Moody High Park Loft
Designers: Kristen Haaksma and Maliya Nedrick
Concept Statement
The objective was to fully design an industrial Toronto loft in High-Park to be cohesive to the clients tastes, and the surrounding neighborhood, while also paying tribute New York City. Much like High-Park, we have created a diverse mix of styles and preferences using the inspiring features of a big city, and the more classical look of antiquities. New York City is where the loft apartment was born, with features like grids, exposed brick, pipes, and a moody atmosphere. By mixing the loft’s authentic history with the characteristics of the famed Tudor and Victorian homes located in High Park, we have achieved a unique and inspiring space for this artistic family to live. Millwork plays a very important role in traditional homes such as the grid formation on Tudor homes, and the beautiful curved arches that are commonly found in Victorian designs. The client has expressed their love of jewel tones, specifically blue, which had made a major appearance in our design.
